Blog #1
It’s always quite funny when you start writing something new, like this. It took me five minutes to pick the bloody font for the title. Haha, make sure you comment if you think I picked a good font or not. Blogs, eh… (Editor note: the formatting for this post is different so this doesn’t really make sense any more…)
So my name is Hamish, no nick names, and I’m the singer for Black Boy Peaches. We are an alternative rock duo from Dunedin, New Zealand, which is a new addition to the band. We were a four piece but as to the changes we had a few members leave off down lucrative career paths and chasing foreign women. That leaves me and Tom, the drummer. Actually Tom started chasing a foreign woman as well! But she decided she liked the fact he was in a band and instead of Tom quitting on one of the most exciting things in his life he decided to marry her! So - BOOM – Tom’s engaged to an English woman, sweet-bix.

Sat 3rd Dec was our first gig as a two piece. We played at Samstock Music Festival out in Mosgiel, rocking the tin shed with our well sculptured alt-rock tones, phat drums, cranked guitar and super awesome computerized, synchronized, phatanized synth melodies. It was quite different to what we are used to doing
but as you can see in the photo I’m donning the ‘Britney mic’ so I could thrash around a bit. We believe in energy, in the physical sense, (not the whacky universal sense that I have never gotten my head around) and so the ‘Britney mic’ was an awesome decision so movement and music co-op. In the photo I’m playing a fender tele with a Marshall class 5 valve amp and Tom is playing his Yamaha Stage Custom drum kit with Dark Kustom cymbals and hats. But back to the Britney Mic; I think I’m brave actually seeing as the last male to use one live was Michael Jackson - BOOM – Greatest Pop Singer Ever. No influence on our part but you just got to give him the cred. We are playing again soon, Dec 16th at a sweet venue in Dunedin called ‘XII Below’ (max 100 people). It’s the start of our NZ Summer Tour which is what the end of the year is for. Beaches, music, very cold beer, beaches, vans, epic lights, beer, music, music, beaches….you know?
That is all for now. Just so you know doing two Blogs a week so more reading soon. Yeeeah. Oh yeah, and I think I changed font like 6 times before I finished this. New things eh,?
